I don't know why I felt the need to come here after more than a year. I think it just may have been blog discussions on my message boards. I remembered I had a blog here and decided to see if I could still access it...and obviously, I can! I also have a very old blog on Xanga....yeah, I know.....but Xanga was hot at one time.
I blame Facebook (...with some laziness thrown in...) on my giving up blogging. And my message boards...just a little. I've always tried to write about different things on Facebook and my message boards, since many of my Facebook friends are also on my message boards. Throw in a blog trying to make it different and I'm out of stuff to write about!
Facebook is becoming a bit old for me. Some of the stuff people post is so inane. It's amazing what some people think is status-worthy! I won't give any examples....don't want to step on toes. And I guess if they feel it's newsworthy....who am I, really, to criticize. But I CAN choose to skip over repeat offenders or refuse to comment. I think I'm still hanging onto Facebook just in case I might miss something important....someday....
My message boards are a whole other ballgame.
I have been online friends with some people for 14 years! I know it's sounds so cliche....but we have all been through so much together. Marriages, divorces, births, deaths and everything in between. I feel as close to them as I do my in-real-life friends. I'll never give up my online message board friends.
I've also joined Twitter. Not to communicate with people I know....but to stalk celebrities!!! I've even been brave and tweeted a few of them. And let me tell you that I have been absolutely THRILLED when a few of them have replied to my tweets!
It's amazing how all of our lives have changed with computers in the home and the internet. We all know it's great for so many things...but for me, it's biggest benefit have been all the wonderful people I have come to know and love.
Facebook...eh. Twitter...hell yeah! Message boards...always. Blog...possibly.
